Grow in an Ekklesia
Ekklesia is the Greek word for church. Grace City calls small groups “Ekklesias.”
At Grace City, we don’t walk alone. Join an Ekklesia and experience the church in action as you share food, walk in community, and grow in Christ.
Why Join an Ekklesia?
Faith was never meant to be a solo journey. God created us for relationship—for honest connection, shared rhythms, and life together. That’s why Ekklesias matter so deeply at Grace City. In these smaller communities, people find belonging, build trust, and grow in their walk with Jesus side by side.

Leading an Ekklesia isn’t about having it all together. It’s about being willing to be used by God. Ekklesias are at the heart of Grace City, and we’re thankful for your desire to step into an Ekklesia leadership role.

FAQs
-
God created humans to thrive not in isolation - but in community. We were made to know one another and be known. This is how family happens, and it’s why we like to call Ekklesias the heart of Grace City. Growth best happens in community, and that’s why we desire every Jesus follower to find a small group community they can connect with and grow.
-
Group sizes typically range from 8-15 people.
-
Ekklesias typically meet 1-2 hours in homes, coffee shops, and other public spaces throughout the Corvallis and mid-Valley area. The length of time Ekklesias meet is around 10 weeks (or one quarter) at a time. Between each quarter, groups take a break, after which group members have the opportunity to rejoin that same Ekklesia or try a new one.

Ekklesias meet for 10 weeks (or one quarter) at a time. Between each quarter, groups take a break, after which group members have the opportunity to rejoin that same Ekklesia or try a new one. However, most Ekklesia members tend to stick with the same Ekklesia for the entire year.
-
If the Ekklesia you’ve joined is not a good fit, that is totally ok! Ekklesia signups occur once per quarter, during which time you have the opportunity to try out a new Ekklesia.
If you’re wanting to join a specific Ekklesia, but it’s outside the quarterly signup window, please email our Ekklesia admin team at ekklesia@gracecitychurch.org.
-
Yes, many Ekklesias offer childcare. Filtering by “Childcare” in our Ekklesia Finder will highlight to you which Ekklesias are currently offering childcare.
-
All Ekklesias have three elements in common: prayer, eating good food, and reading the Bible or discussing faith topics.
Additionally, most Ekklesias take weeks to do fun activities together, such as game nights, movie nights, or going to the beach. Ekklesias also participate in other Grace City church-wide events, including local outreaches and service opportunities designed to bless the community.
-
Great question! You absolutely have the freedom to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable sharing. However, the more you are willing to let others know you, the deeper your relationships can grow!
-
We’re so glad you asked! Yes, you can absolutely attend an Ekklesia, regardless of how much you know about God or the Bible.
Ekklesias aren’t about how much you do or don’t know. They’re about getting to know one another and growing together.
